Text 28 Jul 1 note Inception - mini review.

We are living in a time when most of us comic geeks are reveling in the cinematic potential of our favorite characters being brought to life on the big screen. But what about when we “dream a little bigger’ as the characters of Christopher Nolan’s Inception encourage and look to have the classic figureheads - not just of graphic novels, and childhood bedtime stories - but of modern thought alive and dancing across our screen.

There are a huge number of theories out there, but the one I adhere to is the concept that it’s all a dream - we never once witness reality throughout the whole of the film - and furthermore that each character are only aspects of his own personality - preventing/helping him find the catharsis he needs.

I’m clearly no expert (having taken one university level course on personality theory - which I recieved a C+ in) - but it seems pretty clear that each ‘person’ we meet are based on freudian / jungian personality archetypes ( the most common/foundational dream theorists). Each representing the repressed feelings and desire Cobb has for himself. I’m not gonna go any deeper than that, at risk of quickly illustrating my ignorance of the intricacies of both the film and the psychology (but i included links at the bottom to those who can shed more light).

Interesting food for thought. But the fact that the film even spawns analysis of this sort is a testament to how great it is.

My only lingering question… this deep into a mans mind, and no nudity?

That must be some heavy guilt.
